You are invited to a special night of elevating women’s voices!
Join us October 13th for a one-of-a-kind fundraiser and storytelling open mic in support of women journalists in Afghanistan.
Right now, women journalists in Afghanistan are among the most at-risk populations in the country for reasons of revenge, retribution, and long-standing prejudice against their voices in any public arena. If we do not support these women and journalists in every way possible in this moment, we are at risk of having journalism diminish and disappear from Afghanistan.
The event was thoughtfully designed to both give information about the situation on the ground, as well as create a space for hope and lifting women’s voices around the world.
Agenda:
5:30 - Afghan appetizers and refreshments provided. Guided storytelling exchange
6:00 - Hear from event organizers
6:30 – Storytelling Open Mic where all guests will be invited to share a short story or read from a collection of Afghan poetry
7:30 – Event closes. Invitation to participate in further action in support of the Afghan community
All donations will go to the Afghan fund with the International Women’s Media Foundation, which is helping women journalists in-need in the country and attempting to flee. Learn about critical needs here.
