Storytelling 101: Let's Get Personal!

  • Modified Arts 407 East Roosevelt Street Phoenix, AZ, 85004 United States (map)

Storytelling is sweeping the nation! But what is it? A strict artform? Oversharing in public? And are some stories “better” than others?

Hi, Anna Darian here. In this interactive workshop, I will share the top storytelling tools I’ve learned from years of crafting stories for everything from coffee dates to sold out auditoriums, as well as helping countless others harness the power of their story to land dream jobs, rock presentations, and be more comfortable with their public speaking.

This workshop is intended as an introduction to personal narrative for people wanting to share a story at an open mic or infuse a personal story into a professional presentation. (Job seekers and entrepreneurs are welcome, but the focus will be on the art of storytelling, not pitching.)

Takeaways:

  • Understand what the heck is a story?

  • Learn a simple structure to craft your next story

  • Connect with new friends and practice your new storytelling skills!

Please come prepared with 2-3 pivotal moments in your life that you’d like to frame as a story. These can be funny, tragic, vulnerable, or none of the above.

Schedule:

  • 6:00-6:30 Registration / Networking games (with prizes!)

  • 6:30-8:00 Interactive workshop

  • 8:00-8:30 Q&A, wrap up

Then stick around and mingle with your new friends and enjoy the Art Detour festivities in the Modified Arts gallery!

Light refreshments will be provided.

You must RSVP in advance via EventBrite to attend. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door for $20.

Storytelling is my purpose and my passion, and it’s my honor to invite you to this intimate gathering where I’ll help you connect with your story and uncover your voice.
